During your consultation visit, we’ll explain all your options in saline-filled and silicone breast implants as well as discuss which type of implant procedure is best suited to achieve the desired size, shape, profile, and feel of your new breasts. For breasts that sag, a breast lift in addition to a breast augmentation procedure may also be recommended.

In our practice, the placement of breast implants is typically a one to two hour procedure and may be performed on an outpatient basis. Only a single incision is required for each breast and it is made in an area where it will be least visible with healing. The breast implant is placed and centered beneath the nipple, in a pocket in front of or under the chest muscles. Silicone implants come pre-filled with silicone gel, while saline implants are inflated once they are in place.

During the recovery period, and after the surgical dressings have been removed, a supportive surgical bra or sports bra may be recommended to promote healing and to maintain the position of your new implants. You’ll also be given detailed instructions as to which activities are to be avoided for the first couple of weeks and when you can return to your normal daily routine. Optimal healing depends upon following the post-operative directions. Recovery time can vary depending on the individual and the method of implant placement.
